About The Old Stock & Bond Company

The Founder and Chairman has been a collector of Shares and Bonds since the beginning of his career in the Securities Markets well over 50 years ago at the Sydney Stock Exchange. Although his career focused on information technology systems to improve the operations of front and back offices within Broking Houses throughout Australia, it was the actual security instruments which intrigued him across the various Equities, Options, Fixed Interest, Futures, Swaps markets he was involved in.

The initial the focus was in Australia, followed by the UK markets where stocks and bonds were collected from avid Scripophilist’s in London who introduced him to other collectors throughout Europe, China, and the USA. It was at this point the Old Stock and Bond Shop was conceived in the early 80’s with seasonal shows being held in various Stockbroker’s boardrooms in Sydney. The entity was initially deemed a ‘Shop’ for legal reasons as ASIC viewed the word ‘Company’ as being too close to being a corporation. It was not until March 1995 that the Old Stock and Bond Company was officially approved by ASIC the Australian corporate regulatory authorities and has been operating ever since.

The Old Stock & Bond Company has accumulated tens on thousands of individual securities over the years and now that the founder has retired from corporate life he is now able to devote his time to his Family and his favourite hobby, that of scripophily.  He has been a member of The International Bond & Share Society since 1991.
